Italy Under-21s have secured their place in the upcoming European Under-21 Championship after a commanding 6-2 victory over Poland Under-21. The win was highlighted by a remarkable 70-meter lob from midfielder Cher Ndour, which is already being considered a contender for the Puskas Award.

Azzurrini Seal Qualification in Style

The Azzurrini entered their final group game knowing they needed to win by at least two clear goals to claim first place and direct qualification. They achieved this objective emphatically, scoring six goals against a Polish side that had previously conceded only two goals in their last nine matches.

Ndour was instrumental, scoring a brace. Other goals came from Luca Koleosho, Luca Lipani, Seydou Fini, and Luigi Cherubini, completing a comprehensive performance for coach Silvio Baldini‘s team.

Ndour’s Puskas Contender

Ndour’s audacious lob from approximately 70 metres out, closer to his own penalty area than the opposition net, was a moment of individual brilliance that captivated spectators. This extraordinary effort contributed significantly to Italy’s dominant display and is already being touted as a potential Puskas Award winner.

With qualification now confirmed, Italy Under-21s will participate in the European Under-21 Championship, which is scheduled to take place in Albania and Serbia. The tournament will run from June 16 to July 3, 2027.
