Real Madrid are reportedly growing “irritated” by Kylian Mbappé’s conduct, with criticism intensifying around the French forward’s behaviour and communication. This comes after a period where Mbappé was seen at a nightclub and cycling in Switzerland while recovering from a knee injury sustained during an international break match against Türkiye.
Scrutiny Over Off-Field Actions
The incidents during his recovery have drawn significant attention. Mbappé, who had withdrawn from the France squad due to the injury, was photographed at a nightclub in Paris and later posted a video of himself cycling in Switzerland. These actions were reportedly viewed by some as unprofessional, especially given his recovery period.
Adding to the club’s reported unease is Mbappé’s public lobbying for the Ballon d’Or. Journalist Daniel Riolo of RMC Sport and reports from L’Équipe have highlighted concerns regarding his communication and overall approach.
It has also been reported that Real Madrid manager José Mourinho asked Mbappé to show more discretion. This request reportedly came at a time when the club is facing challenges on the pitch.
Club Performance and Expectations
The scrutiny of Mbappé’s behaviour comes against a backdrop of high expectations and recent struggles for Real Madrid. The club has not secured a major trophy in the last two seasons and currently trails rivals Barcelona by six points in the league standings.
Despite scoring 94 goals in 111 appearances for Los Blancos, Mbappé has yet to win a title with the club. This gap between his individual performance and team silverware forms part of the wider conversation about his impact at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Future Speculation
Amidst the growing criticism, speculation about Mbappé’s long-term future at Real Madrid has also emerged. Daniel Riolo suggested on RMC Sport that an end-of-season departure from the club should not be ruled out. However, this remains commentary from a journalist and does not indicate any confirmed transfer plans or a request from the player to leave.
The intensifying focus on Mbappé’s conduct and his perceived distance from the club environment suggests a period of significant attention for the star forward as Real Madrid navigates a crucial part of their season.
