Six games into the 2026/27 Serie A season, Inter have emerged as the early favourites to lift the Scudetto. The reigning champions currently sit atop the league table with 16 points, having dropped only two points and remaining undefeated. However, the race for the title is far from settled, with several prominent clubs vying for contention. The battle for the top goalscorer award is also heating up, with Roma‘s Donyell Malen leading the pack.
The Serie A Title Race Heats Up
Inter’s strong start sees them as the team to beat. Their 16 points from six games demonstrate a formidable early season form, placing them at the summit of the league.
Close behind, Roma are considered serious contenders for the title. The capital club has shown significant promise, with their attacking prowess being a key factor in their early season performance.
Milan are also firmly in the running. The appointment of Ruben Amorim as coach in June appears to have revitalised the squad. Under Amorim, Milan have recorded three wins and three draws, remaining unbeaten in their opening six fixtures. This strong start suggests they are keen to put last season’s disappointment behind them.
Despite currently occupying sixth place in the table, Juventus are still seen as being in contention for the Scudetto. The Turin giants will be looking to overcome their current league position and challenge for the title as the season progresses.
Malen Leads Golden Boot Race
In the individual honours race, Roma forward Donyell Malen is currently the favourite to finish as Serie A’s top goalscorer. The Dutch international has made an explosive start to the season, netting six goals in six league appearances for Roma. His consistent scoring has been crucial for his team’s strong start.
Inter’s prolific striker Lautaro Martinez is another strong candidate for the Golden Boot. The Argentine has scored four goals in five Serie A games, putting him firmly in contention to challenge Malen for the award.
While it is still early October and only six games have been played, the initial standings and individual performances offer a glimpse into what promises to be an exciting 2026/27 Serie A campaign.
