Paris FC have made an impressive start to the Ligue 1 season, climbing to third place after a dramatic last-gasp victory over Stade Rennais on Sunday afternoon. The win was secured by a crucial injury-time penalty from Lassine Sinayoko, marking a strong rebound for Les Parisiens following their recent loss to FC Lorient.
The capital club now sits just behind Olympique Lyonnais on goal difference, while second-placed Paris Saint-Germain only edges them out on goals scored. This strong run places Paris FC in a UEFA Champions League qualification position, aligning with their pre-season objective to contend for European places.
Following his match-winning performance, Malian striker Lassine Sinayoko expressed significant ambition for the team. “We can do big things,” he stated. “How far can we go? This team can go right to the top. When we can play like that, we see that lots of great things can happen to us.”
Manager’s Measured Approach
Despite the team’s excellent form, manager Liam Rosenior has urged caution. Since taking charge over the summer, Rosenior has overseen a record of four wins, two losses, and one draw. While acknowledging the positive start, he emphasised the long road ahead in the season.
“No one will remember in May where we were in October,” Rosenior remarked. “The important thing for us is to focus on the next match, to not get carried away, to keep our feet on the ground.”
Paris FC’s next challenge will be a tricky away trip to face RC Lens, as they look to maintain their impressive early-season momentum.
