Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro Tonali has publicly affirmed his enduring affection for AC Milan, declaring the Italian club will “always be the team of my heart” despite his recent move to North London.

The 26-year-old Italy international, who joined Spurs in the summer for a club-record fee of around £100 million, spoke to Sky Sport about his deep connection to the Rossoneri. “Milan will always be the team of my heart, no matter how much time passes,” Tonali stated. “Even in 20 years, I’ll keep following them whenever my commitments allow, because this feeling will never change.”

A Rossoneri Legacy

Tonali’s bond with Milan runs deep, having been a lifelong supporter before joining the club from Brescia in 2020. He quickly became a pivotal figure, playing a key role in the side that secured the Scudetto title in 2022. His subsequent transfer to Newcastle United for approximately £55 million the following summer was met with disappointment by many Milan fans.

New Chapter at Tottenham

His move to Tottenham in July saw him choose to work under compatriot Roberto De Zerbi, despite reported interest from other top clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal. De Zerbi had successfully guided Tottenham to safety on the final day of the previous season, paving the way for a significant summer rebuild.

Reflecting on his new team’s start to the campaign, Tonali acknowledged the challenges but highlighted positive aspects. “We shouldn’t dwell on our start, we have to take the positives. The performances have been excellent,” he commented. He also expressed the squad’s admiration for their coach, adding, “Everyone loves the coach, who suffers more than anyone here at Tottenham. We know we have to give him a lot, because we haven’t achieved anything yet.”

Tonali believes the team is gelling well, noting, “Since last week we’ve been much more of a team, and we can’t stop now. We have a tough away game next, so we need to stay positive and play our football.” His comments underscore a commitment to his current club while openly maintaining his lifelong allegiance to Milan.
