Reports from Italy indicate that some Juventus players are reportedly unhappy with head coach Luciano Spalletti’s training methods. The discontent within the squad comes at a critical time for the club, as they prepare for a significant Serie A fixture against Napoli.
Player Concerns Emerge
According to reports, a segment of the Juventus dressing room believes that Spalletti spends too much time talking during training sessions. This perceived excessive communication is thought to reduce the overall intensity of drills, leading to dissatisfaction among some players.
The concerns surface following a challenging period for the Turin giants. Juventus recently suffered a 2-0 defeat to Genoa, a result that prompted CEO Giovanni Carnevali to address the team directly. Carnevali reportedly spoke to the players in the dressing room, urging them to take responsibility for the team’s recent performances.
Spalletti Under Pressure
Spalletti’s position at the club appears to be under scrutiny. So far this Serie A season, he has overseen the team earning 14 points from nine games. The team has also lost two of their last three matches, adding to the pressure on the coach.
In response to the current situation, Spalletti has ordered a two-day training retreat for the squad ahead of their upcoming clash. This move suggests an attempt to refocus the team and address the issues ahead of a vital period.
Looking Ahead to Napoli and Potential Successors
The upcoming match against Napoli is crucial for Juventus as they aim to improve their league standing and alleviate the mounting pressure. The outcome of this fixture could significantly impact the immediate future of the club and Spalletti’s tenure.
Amidst the reports of player unhappiness and the team’s inconsistent form, several prominent names have been linked as potential successors to Spalletti. Stefano Pioli, Paulo Sousa, and Antonio Conte are among the managers reportedly being considered for the role at the Allianz Stadium, should a change occur.
