Francesco Pio Esposito has spoken about Inter‘s crucial 3-0 Champions League victory over Feyenoord, a match in which he scored his first club goal since September 14. The young striker described goals as “like oxygen” for a forward, expressing his happiness at ending his recent drought.

Inter’s Resilient Performance

Inter secured the impressive away win, quickly recovering from a 3-1 Serie A derby defeat against rivals Milan just days earlier. Esposito acknowledged the challenge, stating that such a strong reaction “wasn’t a given” against a tough opponent like Feyenoord. He praised Cristian Chivu’s side for their approach.

“We were good at stepping onto the pitch with the right approach and taking the game where we wanted,” Esposito told Sky Sport. “Surely, we analyse defeats. We did, and I’m happy we put words into action.”

Focus on Future Challenges

Esposito’s goal was the second of the night for the Nerazzurri, marking a significant personal milestone after a period without finding the net at club level. He emphasised his commitment to the team, stating, “Surely, a goal is like oxygen for a striker, but I try to put the work for the team ahead of everything else and I’m happy to have ended my drought.”

The victory sees Cristian Chivu’s Inter team accumulate six points from four Champions League group stage games. When asked about their chances of finishing in the top eight, Esposito maintained a focused perspective. “It’s still very long. We must focus on one game at a time, thinking that we can play on par with everyone until the end,” he concluded.
