Key Takeaways

  • Ramy Bensebaini is unlikely to play against Borussia Mönchengladbach due to a swollen foot.
  • Niklas Süle and Felix Nmecha remain unavailable for Sunday’s match.
  • Yan Couto and Jobe Bellingham missed training with illness but should recover in time.

Niko Kovač has confirmed bad news for Borussia Dortmund fans before their next match. The manager revealed on Thursday that defender Ramy Bensebaini will probably miss the trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach this Sunday.

The Algerian left-back hurt his foot during last week’s 4-0 win against SC Freiburg. Bensebaini had scored and provided an assist in that game, but the injury now keeps him out of training.

“Bensebaini has a foot injury from the last match and has not trained,” Kovač said. “His foot is quite swollen, so it is unlikely he will play at the weekend.”

The injury problems continue for Dortmund. Centre-back Niklas Süle is still not ready to play. Midfielder Felix Nmecha is getting better but has not trained with the team yet.

“Niki is still unavailable,” the coach explained. “Felix is recovering well, but he is not training with the group. He is on schedule, but he will probably not play against Gladbach. We must wait for the Frankfurt match next week.”

There is better news about Yan Couto and Jobe Bellingham. Both players missed training on Wednesday and Thursday because they were sick. However, Kovač expects them to be ready for Sunday’s game.
