Eintracht Frankfurt have decided to keep Albert Riera as their head coach for the upcoming Bundesliga fixture against Borussia Dortmund. This decision comes after senior officials held urgent meetings to discuss the team’s alarming slide in form.

The Spanish manager faced serious questions about his future following a 2-1 loss to Hamburger SV last weekend. This disappointing result prompted club leaders to organise a crisis summit earlier this week.

Club captain Robin Koch took part in these important discussions with the board. Sources indicate that the meeting concluded with Riera keeping his job for at least one more match against the Black and Yellows.

Markus Krösche, the board member for sport, plays a central role in this situation. He believes there is insufficient time to secure a permanent replacement before Friday’s kick-off. Additionally, he does not wish to bring in a temporary manager for only the remaining two games of the campaign.

Despite this short-term reprieve, Riera will definitely leave his position when the current season finishes. The club has already begun searching for a new permanent boss.

Several experienced names have emerged as potential candidates. Former players and managers including Alex Meier, Friedhelm Funkel and Adi Hütter now feature on the shortlist to take charge next term.
