Real Madrid Castilla star Cesar Palacios looks set to leave the club when the summer transfer window opens. The 21-year-old central midfielder wants regular playing time at senior level.

Palacios has made six appearances for Real Madrid’s first team. However, he has only played 76 minutes in total for the senior side. He now feels ready for a permanent move away from Valdebebas.

Italian outfit Como are leading the race for his signature. The Serie A side have already signed two players from Real Madrid’s B team. Both Nico Paz and Jacobo Ramon have done well under manager Cesc Fabregas. Como now want to add Palacios to their squad.

Spanish clubs are also interested. Osasuna are keen after Victor Munoz succeeded following his move from Castilla last year. Getafe and Alaves are watching the situation too.

Athletic Club Bilbao were previously interested. But they pulled out of the deal. The Basque club did not want to accept Real Madrid’s usual terms. Los Blancos typically demand a 50% sell-on clause and a buyback option. Athletic were not willing to meet these conditions or pay a high enough fee to remove them.

Palacios has two years left on his contract. But he wants to play weekly at the top level. Real Madrid are also planning to sign a new midfielder. This makes Palacios’ exit even more likely.
