Reports indicate that Eintracht Frankfurt will end Albert Riera’s time as manager when this season finishes. The Bundesliga side has decided to remove the Spanish coach from his role after facing troubles both on the pitch and in the dressing room.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg states that club officials have already made this decision internally. Riera began his job well and showed strong control. However, the situation became difficult last month.
The problems grew worse when Riera had a public argument with key attacker Jonathan Burkardt. The 44-year-old has since failed to keep the discipline and respect he commanded during his first weeks at the club.
The Eagles are now preparing for next season without Riera. The club has made a list of four possible new managers. One name is Matthias Jaissle. He has just won the Asian Champions League twice in a row with Al Ahli.
Frankfurt currently sit in eighth place in the Bundesliga table. They are one point behind SC Freiburg. Freiburg have reached the Europa League semi-finals this year. The Eagles still have a chance to qualify for European football next season.
