Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has sparked controversy after accusing Barcelona of winning seven La Liga titles unfairly. The comments relate to the Negreira case, which involves historical payments made by the Catalan club to a former refereeing official.

Barcelona have consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding the allegations. Stand-in president Rafa Yuste previously labelled Pérez’s remarks as “pathetic”.

Now midfielder Fermín López has responded to the accusations. Speaking to Cadena SER, he defended his club’s past success.

“You cannot say that Barça have stolen seven leagues,” Lopez stated. He highlighted that football legends including Lionel Messi, Andrés Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez played for those championship teams.

The Spain international emphasized that the squad remains focused on their current progress. He noted that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but described Pérez’s comments as inappropriate.

“We don’t care what happens outside Barça,” Lopez added. “We are very focused on what is happening here. The club is in a very good period.”

Lopez also addressed recent comments from journalist Tomás Roncero. The reporter had suggested Lopez would be a perfect signing for Real Madrid, calling him a “Real Madrid prototype”.

“I am a Barça prototype,” Lopez declared firmly. “It is impossible for me to go to Real Madrid. I will always go to Barça.”
