We bring you full coverage as Inter Milan mark their remarkable domestic double. The team won both the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia during the 2025-26 campaign. Festivities are taking place at the San Siro and across the city centre.
The club secured the Scudetto on 3 May following a 2-0 victory against Parma. They completed the double by defeating Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final last Wednesday.
Officials presented the Serie A trophy to Cristian Chivu and his squad after their league fixture against Hellas Verona on Sunday. This match marked their final appearance on home soil this season.
The players celebrated on the pitch before boarding an open-top bus. The parade travelled through the streets of Milan and finished at the famous Piazza del Duomo.
Speaking to DAZN after the final whistle against Verona, Chivu expressed his joy. “We celebrated last week. Today we lift the trophy and begin the parade. The initial excitement has settled, but now we can show these two trophies to our supporters. We won them because of these players.”
He also spoke about the challenges of the season. “There are always difficult moments during eight months of competition. You must know how to handle the tough times we faced at the start. You must also stay calm when you win fourteen from fifteen matches. Balance is essential.”
Chivu added a personal note about his long connection to the club. “I have been here for nineteen years. This feels wonderful for me. However, I feel even happier for my players and for these fans.”
Former defender Marco Materazzi commented on the future of the squad. He believes some senior players must leave due to their age. “It happened to me as well. It is always better to have courage and admit when you have had enough. Jose Mourinho once called me and said I would not start every match, but I would be vital in the dressing room. We must wait to see what the club decides.”
The club president also spoke to DAZN. He said winning remains special, but he felt most pleased for the supporters. He confirmed changes will happen before next season.
“There will be some alterations. This will be an evolution, not a revolution. We must assess certain players, but we respect those who will leave. We want a blend of young talent and experienced professionals. The core group remains strong. Today we had four players who came through our youth academy. This is the path we must continue.”
Matteo Darmian is one player who will exit the club. His contract ends next month. The 37-year-old defender spoke about his departure. “These six years have been fantastic and exciting. Now we will enjoy the party. It has been a hard season, but we take home two trophies. The fans are brilliant. They made me feel at home from my very first day.”
Darmian has not decided whether to continue playing or retire. “I have not made a decision about next year yet,” he told DAZN. “I will speak with the club during the coming days. Then I will make my choice. I will decide whether to carry on playing or to stop.”
