Werder Bremen are preparing to make goalkeeper Karl Hein’s loan move from Arsenal a permanent arrangement. The Bundesliga club will reportedly pay approximately €3 million to secure the Estonian international on a full-time basis.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper has featured twice for the Green-Whites during the current campaign and has shown promising form when selected. His performances have convinced the club’s hierarchy to pursue a long-term deal.

Hein is tipped to assume the role of first-choice goalkeeper at the Weser-Stadion. This development follows news that current number one Mio Backhaus is heading for the exit door.

Backhaus, aged 22, has drawn attention from multiple suitors and could command a transfer fee in the region of €15 million. His departure would clear the path for Hein to take over between the posts.
