Barcelona are preparing for a busy summer in the transfer market. The Catalan giants want to buy new stars, but first they must fix their money problems. The club has struggled with La Liga’s spending limits for many months.

The 1:1 rule is very important for the Spanish champions. This rule means clubs can only spend money they actually earn. Barcelona have not followed this rule recently, which made signing players difficult.

However, Robert Lewandowski has given the club some good news. The 37-year-old striker announced he will not stay at Camp Nou after this season. His contract finishes next month, and he will not renew it.

Lewandowski earned one of the biggest salaries at the club. When he leaves, Barcelona will save a lot of money. This saving, plus €71 million from selling VIP seats at their stadium, should help the club meet the 1:1 rule before July.

The club hoped to return to the 1:1 rule before Lewandowski left. If they had done this, they could use 100% of his wage savings for new signings. Now, they can only use 60% of this money. They need to sell more players to reach the full 100%.

Manager Hansi Flick wants to remove other high earners too. German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Spanish forward Ansu Fati might also leave. The club could also sell young players Marc Casado and Roony Bardghji to raise extra cash.

Barcelona fans in Kenya and across Africa will watch closely. The club needs these sales to happen quickly. The summer transfer window opens in July, and the team wants to strengthen before the new season starts.
