Lewandowski earned one of the biggest salaries at the club. When he leaves, Barcelona will save a lot of money. This saving, plus €71 million from selling VIP seats at their stadium, should help the club meet the 1:1 rule before July.
The club hoped to return to the 1:1 rule before Lewandowski left. If they had done this, they could use 100% of his wage savings for new signings. Now, they can only use 60% of this money. They need to sell more players to reach the full 100%.
Manager Hansi Flick wants to remove other high earners too. German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Spanish forward Ansu Fati might also leave. The club could also sell young players Marc Casado and Roony Bardghji to raise extra cash.
