- Premier League interest and squad role concerns could complicate potential deal
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has reportedly added Real Betis winger Ez Abde to his summer watchlist after the Morocco international delivered a standout display against the Catalan side. The 23-year-old caused persistent problems down the flank during their recent meeting, despite his team suffering a 3-1 defeat at Camp Nou.
Abde, who previously left Barcelona for €7.5m three years ago, gave right-back Jules Koundé a torrid time in the opening period and saw one effort ruled out for offside. According to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, Flick observed the forward closely and formed a favourable opinion of his abilities.
The German tactician is currently assessing options for the left wing. Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford has expressed desire to stay, but the clubs remain deadlocked over the €30m valuation. With centre-back and centre-forward taking priority in the budget, Barcelona must find cost-effective solutions for wide positions.
A reunion with Abde offers financial advantages. The Blaugrana retain a 20% sell-on clause, effectively providing a discount on any fee. However, competition from English clubs and uncertainty over whether Abde would accept a backup role present significant hurdles to overcome.
