  • Barcelona manager Hansi Flick identifies Cambiaso as a key defensive target
  • Juventus reduce valuation from €70m to approximately €50m
  • Italy international signed a five-year contract extension in 2024
  • Versatile full-back has started 34 Serie A matches this season

Catalan giants FC Barcelona are reportedly plotting a summer move for Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso. The Italy international has emerged as a priority target for manager Hansi Flick, who values the player’s tactical flexibility across multiple positions.

According to reports in Italy, the Bianconeri have significantly lowered their demands. Manchester City were previously quoted around €70 million for the 26-year-old during the last campaign. However, sources now suggest Juventus are willing to entertain offers closer to €50 million.

This price reduction reflects the Turin club’s financial situation. Without Champions League revenue next season, the Serie A side faces pressure to sell assets. This necessity has made Cambiaso available at a more accessible price point.

Despite the transfer speculation, the versatile full-back recently committed his long-term future to Juventus. He signed a five-year contract extension at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, binding him to the club until June 2029. His current deal earns him approximately €2.5 million annually.

Cambiaso has been virtually ever-present for Juventus this term. The defender has appeared in every league match where he was eligible, starting 34 of 35 fixtures. He has missed only two games through suspension. His contributions include three goals and four assists in Serie A.

Discussions between the two clubs could begin in the coming weeks as Barcelona seek to strengthen their defensive ranks ahead of the new campaign.
