Fabian Ruiz has confessed that he still longs for his former club Napoli. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder watches every match the Serie A side plays. He shared these thoughts while looking ahead to the Champions League Final against Arsenal.

The 30-year-old Spain international first moved to Napoli from Real Betis in the summer of 2018. The transfer fee was €30 million, which was a major investment for the Italian team at that time. He spent four successful seasons at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona before joining PSG in 2022.

“They have lifted two Serie A trophies since I departed,” Ruiz explained. “I still speak regularly with many friends there. I wish them continued success because they truly deserve it.”

During his spell in Naples, Ruiz made 166 competitive appearances. He contributed 22 goals and 15 assists for the Partenopei. He has now reached the exact same number of matches for PSG. However, his statistics in France show 16 goals and 26 assists.

The midfielder expressed his excitement about reaching the Champions League Final. “We are delighted to be here again,” he said. “We know winning this trophy is extremely difficult. We face a very strong Arsenal side who won the Premier League last night. It will be a tough battle, but we have great enthusiasm and feel ready.”

Ruiz scored his first-ever Champions League goal against Arsenal in last season’s semi-final. “That was a very difficult tie,” he recalled. “We won both legs, but a Final is a completely different challenge.”

He also praised manager Luis Enrique. The coach provides specific details before every match to help the team secure victory. Ruiz noted that the semi-final against Bayern Munich was particularly demanding. He had to assist team-mate Nuno Mendes with defensive duties during that encounter.
