FC Nantes have announced that defender Frédéric Guilbert has extended his contract. The 31-year-old will stay at the club for two more years.
The French full-back joined Nantes in January. He moved on a free transfer from Italian side US Lecce. His deal with the Italian club had ended early.
Guilbert has now agreed to remain with the French team until 2028. This news comes shortly after Nantes were relegated to the second division. They finished 17th in Ligue 1 last season.
The player had a difficult start at the club. He did not feature in any of the first 22 league matches. However, he stayed positive and wants to repay the club’s faith in him.
Guilbert previously played for RC Strasbourg. He brings important experience to the squad. The club hopes he will help them return to the top flight next season.
