  • Mislintat exits after only six months as managing director for sport
  • Fortuna Düsseldorf suffered relegation from the 2. Bundesliga
  • The former Borussia Dortmund scout joined in December to prevent the drop
  • Samir Arabi is expected to succeed him in the role

Sven Mislintat will exit Fortuna Düsseldorf this summer. The German club confirmed the departure of their sporting director just six months after his arrival.

The 53-year-old joined the Düsseldorf outfit in December. His mission was clear: improve the squad and keep the club in the second tier. However, the team failed to survive the relegation battle. They will now compete in the third division next season.

Multiple German media outlets report that both parties agreed to end the partnership. The relegation proved too damaging for Mislintat to continue his work.

The former chief scout of Borussia Dortmund now faces an uncertain future. Meanwhile, Fortuna Düsseldorf have identified his replacement. Samir Arabi, who previously worked at Arminia Bielefeld, is likely to assume the position.

Arabi brings experience from his time in German football. The club hopes he can rebuild the team and secure a quick return to higher divisions.
