Sebastian Lange, the club’s sporting director, spoke to the media after the final whistle. He admitted that the early red card helped his side. Wolfsburg’s Joakim Mæhle received a second yellow card after just 14 minutes. The defender had to leave the pitch.
“The sending-off certainly played into our hands,” Lange said. However, he was quick to praise his players for their quality. He stated that the team surpassed all expectations during the match.
“The lads showed great sharpness on the pitch,” Lange explained. “We moved the ball quickly. Every single player performed very well.” He described the victory as fully deserved. He highlighted the excellent team spirit and determination shown throughout the contest.
