Jamie Vardy is preparing to quit Cremonese after just one year in Italy. The veteran English striker will leave the club when his contract finishes at the end of June.

The 39-year-old joined the Italian team last summer as a free agent. He moved there after leaving Leicester City, where he spent many successful years. His time at the Foxes ended after they dropped to the Championship. This came exactly ten years after their famous Premier League title win in 2016.

Vardy signed a one-year deal with Cremonese. However, the club could not avoid relegation from Serie A. They lost their final match against Como, who will play in the Champions League next season. At the same time, Lecce beat Genoa. These results confirmed Cremonese would play in Serie B next season.

The club tried to stop the drop by changing managers during the season. They replaced Davide Nicola with Marco Giampaolo. Sadly, this switch did not save them from the second tier.

Now Cremonese must rebuild their attack without their experienced striker. Vardy wants to return to England as a free agent. It is also unclear if Giampaolo will keep his job for the new season. He has a contract for next year, but the club has not confirmed his position.
