Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea this summer following a disappointing campaign that saw the club miss out on European football. The West London outfit are willing to sell the World Cup winner, but only if a buyer meets their £120 million valuation.
The 25-year-old midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge from Benfica in January 2023 for £107 million. He signed a lengthy deal that runs until 2032, giving Chelsea a strong position in any negotiations.
Despite the team’s struggles, Fernandez enjoyed a solid individual season. He found the net 15 times and provided seven assists for his team-mates, finishing as runner-up in the club’s player of the season award.
His representative, Javier Pastore, is now exploring potential moves across Europe. Real Madrid remains the player’s top choice, but the La Liga giants are unwilling to pay the full fee unless they raise funds through player sales. They are also monitoring Manchester City’s Rodri.
Manchester City could offer an escape route, especially with former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca set to take charge. However, the Premier League champions are currently focused on signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the Argentine, but the French side have cooled speculation by stating a deal is unlikely.
Chelsea finished 10th in the table last term and lifted no trophies. Senior figures at the club accept that new manager Xabi Alonso requires proven, Premier League-ready talent to rebuild the squad. They will therefore demand full value for Fernandez if he departs.
