Aleksandar Stankovic is set to wear the blue and black shirt once again. The young Serbian midfielder completed his medical examinations with Inter Milan on Thursday. This move signals his return from Club Brugge after a successful season in Belgium.

The transfer will cost the Nerazzurri €23 million. This fee comes from a buy-back clause that Inter insisted on when they originally sold him. They wanted to ensure they could bring him home if he proved his quality abroad.

Stankovic is the son of Dejan Stankovic, a famous former Inter player and club icon. He grew up in the Inter academy system alongside his brother Filip. The club always believed he had the talent to succeed at the highest level.

His time in Belgium proved them correct. The 20-year-old played 55 competitive matches for Club Brugge. He found the net nine times and set up five more goals for his team-mates. These performances helped the Belgian side lift the league trophy.

Inter had two options with the buy-back clause. They could pay €23 million this summer or wait until June 2027 and pay €26 million. They decided to act now. Reports suggest the real cost to the club is closer to €14 million when previous fees are considered.

The midfielder will now link up with coach Cristian Chivu. He hopes to secure a place in the first team squad and follow in his father’s footsteps at the San Siro.
