Real Madrid are preparing to exercise buy-back options on several promising talents currently playing elsewhere, with Serie A side Como facing the potential loss of two key performers.
The Spanish giants inserted clever clauses into the contracts of midfielder Nico Paz and centre-back Jacobo Ramon when they sold the pair to the Italian club last summer. These arrangements allow Los Blancos to re-sign the players for predetermined fees over the next few seasons.
Paz, who claimed the Serie A midfielder of the year award, moved to Como for a modest fee in 2024. His contract contains a buy-back option worth €9 million that Madrid can trigger this summer. The deal also includes a 50 per cent sell-on clause, ensuring the La Liga club benefit financially regardless of the player’s future.
Como are desperate to retain the Argentina international for at least another twelve months. The club will make their debut in the Champions League next season, and manager Cesc Fabregas views Paz as crucial to their European ambitions. Sources suggest the player wishes to remain in Italy for another campaign, though the ultimate choice belongs to Madrid.
Joining Paz in potentially returning to the Santiago Bernabeu is defender Jacobo Ramon. The centre-back arrived at Como for approximately €2.5 million under similar terms, including matching buy-back provisions and a 50 per cent sell-on percentage.
Spanish publication Marca reports that Madrid could secure both players along with 22-year-old Victor Munoz from Osasuna for a total investment of roughly €23 million. Munoz departed under an identical structure last year. This trio would join Endrick, who returns following his loan spell in France, as part of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad rebuilding efforts.
The situation places Como in a difficult position as they prepare for their historic continental campaign, with their most valuable assets subject to recall by one of Europe’s most powerful clubs.
