Juventus have given up hope of signing Bernardo Silva. The Italian club wanted the Portuguese midfielder to join them on a free transfer, but FC Barcelona are now set to win the race for his signature.

The 31-year-old left Manchester City this summer after winning six Premier League titles. Several clubs wanted to sign him. Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray and teams from the USA and Saudi Arabia all showed interest.

However, Spanish giants Barcelona are close to completing the deal. Top Italian reporters including Alfredo Pedulla, Gianluigi Longari and Nicolo Schira say negotiations are in the final stage.

Silva has already agreed personal terms with the Catalan club. He will sign a contract until 2028 with an option to stay for one more year. The player wants to settle his future before the 2026 World Cup starts in two weeks.
