AC Milan legend Cafu has defended the current Rossoneri squad. He claims every player has the quality to play for Champions League finalists Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain.

The former Brazil international spoke to MilanNews.it. He admitted the club’s fifth-place finish in Serie A was below expectations. Milan will not compete in next season’s Champions League.

“We always want the best for Milan,” Cafu said. “We hope they can go as far as possible. It did not happen this time, but we hope they return to the Champions League next season.”

The ex-right-back also discussed changes behind the scenes. Several staff members have left the club. These include Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare, Massimiliano Allegri and Geoffrey Moncada. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s role was also mentioned.

“It is not for me to decide what is right or wrong for Milan,” he explained. “There is a staff that makes those decisions. But as a Milan supporter, I will always hope to see Milan become stronger.”

Cafu also reflected on his time at the San Siro. He won the Champions League with the club. He said this was his best moment in red and black.

However, his strongest claim came when asked about the current squad. He was questioned how many players could play for Arsenal or PSG.

“All of them! Because they are good players,” Cafu replied immediately.

The Brazilian acknowledged that missing the Champions League was a major blow. But he argued this should not judge the players’ quality. “It is a shame they did not qualify,” he added. “But that does not mean they are not good players. Sometimes you just have a bad season. Hopefully things will go better next year.”
