Sky Germany reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas has an active release clause written into his current deal. This exit option becomes valid during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The German broadcaster states that clubs within specific league positions can trigger this clause. Any side finishing in the top five of the Bundesliga can secure the player by paying a fee ranging between €10 million and €15 million.
However, English clubs face stricter financial terms. Teams competing in the Premier League must pay a set price of €15 million to obtain the 26-year-old’s services.
Aston Villa have recently registered their interest in the shot-stopper. This development comes as questions remain over the future of their current first-choice keeper, Emiliano Martinez.
Nicolas enjoyed an impressive campaign during the previous term. He maintained 13 clean sheets across 34 matches in Germany’s top flight. A transfer to the English top flight could become reality before the new season kicks off.
