AC Milan have identified former Liverpool head coach Arne Slot as their number one choice to succeed Massimiliano Allegri at the San Siro. The Dutchman became a free agent this Saturday following his release from the Premier League club.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that negotiations are already in progress between the Rossoneri and the 46-year-old tactician. Slot delivered Liverpool’s twentieth league title during his debut season on Merseyside. However, his second term proved less fruitful, with the Reds ending the campaign in fifth position.
The seven-time European champions opted to terminate Allegri’s contract after another frustrating season. The Italian giants missed out on Champions League qualification for the second consecutive year, prompting the dismissal of both the manager and several board members.
Should the move materialise, Slot would find himself in charge of several high-profile French internationals. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan, midfielders Adrien Rabiot and Youssouf Fofana, plus attacker Christopher Nkunku would all form part of his squad at the Italian club.
