Antonio Conte has reportedly asked for a massive wage package to become the new manager of Fenerbahce. The Italian coach wants at least €15 million per year. He also demands an extra €5 million bonus if he wins the Turkish league title.
The former Napoli boss will leave his current club this summer. He agreed to end his contract early by mutual consent. During his two years in Naples, he won the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana.
Two candidates running for the Fenerbahce presidency have approached Conte. Aziz Yildirim and Hakan Safi both want the 54-year-old to lead their project. However, the Turkish club cannot make any final decisions until their presidential elections finish.
Conte has also been linked with a return to manage the Italian national team. Some reports suggest he might take a one-year break from football instead. Despite this, clubs from outside Italy remain interested in hiring him.
Fenerbahce hopes to rebuild their team after finishing behind their biggest rivals, Galatasaray. The club wants to challenge for the championship again next season.
This would not be the first time Conte has worked outside his home country. He previously spent time in England as manager of both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
