- The 47-year-old Frenchman is also a former target for Liverpool
Crystal Palace Football Club has initiated formal discussions with RC Lens manager Pierre Sage regarding their vacant head coach position. The South London side are searching for a new manager following their recent separation from Oliver Glasner.
The Eagles had initially prioritised Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola for the role. However, the Spanish coach is now expected to join Liverpool instead. This has prompted Palace to turn their attention to Sage, who was also previously considered by the Merseyside club.
The 47-year-old is open to the move to Selhurst Park. He is scheduled to meet with Palace officials in the coming days to discuss the position further.
Sage has achieved notable success during his time in Northern France. He guided Lens to a second-place finish in the French top flight and delivered their maiden Coupe de France trophy. Despite these accomplishments, he has remained non-committal when questioned about his future at the club.
The former Lyon head coach is contracted to Lens until 2028. The French club will require compensation to release him from his current deal.
