Kai Havertz arrived at the Germany camp later than his team-mates after helping Arsenal in the Champions League final. However, he went straight into the starting eleven for Saturday’s friendly match against the United States.

The Arsenal forward made an immediate impact on the pitch. He found the back of the net himself and then created the winning goal for Leroy Sané. After the final whistle, he shared his thoughts on the team’s display.

“We played well overall,” Havertz told RTL. “I think we were better in the second half.”

Although the side did not produce a perfect performance, Havertz believes their current form is excellent. Germany have now won nine games in a row.

“With nine straight wins, we go into our first group game with a lot of confidence,” he explained.

“Of course, we lost control of the ball at times during the match. But we are in good physical condition and feel very positive about the future,” he added.

Germany will begin their World Cup campaign against Curaçao next Sunday.
