England international Kieran Trippier is exploring ways to cancel his agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers. The experienced right-back is furious after the club removed head coach Rob Edwards from his position this week.

The 35-year-old completed his medical and officially committed to the Midlands side on Monday. He chose Wolves over rival offers because Edwards was central to the project. However, the mood changed dramatically when news broke late on Wednesday that the manager had been dismissed.

Trippier discovered the shock announcement on Thursday morning through external sources rather than club officials. The player feels let down by the timing of the decision, which arrived only two days after his high-profile presentation as the team’s key summer recruit.

The situation appears particularly harsh for Edwards, who reportedly heard about his sacking from a family member rather than the board. He had worked hard to convince both Trippier and striker Raul Jimenez to join, with the coaching staff already planning for the upcoming Championship campaign.

Trippier remains officially a Newcastle United player until the end of June. He signed only a pre-contract with Wolves that was due to start on July 1. This status gives him flexibility to reverse his decision despite completing the formal signing process earlier this week.

The club is set to appoint Portuguese manager Cesar Peixoto, currently at Gil Vicente, as Edwards’ replacement. However, this change at the top has thrown Trippier’s future into serious doubt just days after he cancelled holiday plans to seal the transfer.

Wolves have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the defender’s concerns or the circumstances surrounding Edwards’ departure.
