Norway striker Alexander Sorloth has refused to be drawn on reports linking him with Juventus, offering a terse “no comment” immediately after his country’s 3-2 World Cup victory over Senegal on Monday.
When approached by journalists regarding the potential transfer to Turin following the match, the Atletico Madrid forward responded: “Nothing, why?” He subsequently added: “There’s nothing to say. No comment.”
The 30-year-old’s reluctance to discuss the matter comes amid reports that significant progress has already been made behind the scenes. According to transfer specialist Matteo Moretto, Sorloth has verbally agreed to a three-year contract with the Serie A side. Yet the deal remains incomplete, as Juventus and Atletico Madrid have not settled on a transfer fee.
Atletico are reportedly demanding between €30 million and €35 million for the centre-forward. The valuation has become a sticking point in discussions, which have notably decelerated following a recent change in Juventus’ executive leadership. Giovanni Carnevali succeeded Damien Comolli as chief executive officer, and contact between the two clubs has reportedly grown less frequent since the transition.
Juventus are simultaneously pursuing alternative attacking options to bolster their squad. Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani features prominently on their shortlist as a potential alternative to Sorloth. Meanwhile, the Turin-based club are preparing a final attempt to secure a contract extension for Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic.
With the Norway international keeping his counsel publicly, the onus remains on Juventus to bridge the financial gap with Atletico. Until the clubs reach consensus on the fee, Sorloth’s immediate future lies with the Spanish side, though his long-term destination appears increasingly likely to be Italy should the Bianconeri meet the asking price.
