Fulham have officially completed the permanent signing of Swedish striker Jonah Kusi-Asare from Bayern Munich. The 18-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League club, including an option for an additional year, after spending the 2025/26 season on loan at Craven Cottage.

The deal, reportedly worth €6 million, was confirmed by Fulham following weeks of negotiation. Kusi-Asare expressed his satisfaction with the arrangement, stating: “I’m very happy to be a permanent Fulham player. From my first week here, it was very good – I felt like I was a part of the Fulham family. The changing room was very nice, team, staff, so I’m very happy to stay here.”

Fee Negotiation and Buy-Back Clause

The final fee represents a significant reduction from Fulham’s initial option. The Cottagers held a reported €12 million purchase option during the loan spell but declined to trigger it, instead negotiating the valuation down to €6 million. This revised arrangement saves the west London club approximately half the initial asking price whilst securing the forward outright.

Despite sanctioning the permanent departure, Bayern Munich have protected their long-term interests by inserting a buy-back clause into the transfer agreement. Bild reported that the German champions retain the right to re-sign the teenager should they wish to bring him back to Munich in future. This mechanism allows Bayern to monetise a peripheral asset without permanently closing the door on his potential return.

Rapid Ascent and Premier League Preference

Kusi-Asare joined Bayern from Swedish side AIK in February 2024 for a reported €3.5 million fee. During his 16 months in Bavaria, he made just two appearances for the senior team, struggling to break into a star-studded squad before securing temporary football in England.

The striker turned down approaches from other English clubs to return to Fulham permanently, prioritising continuity in the Premier League over fresh starts elsewhere. The permanent transfer allows Fulham to secure a young forward with top-flight experience at a reduced cost, whilst Bayern recoup nearly double their initial outlay from the AIK deal.

The signing provides Fulham with additional attacking depth as they prepare for the new campaign, with the formal completion of the transfer now subject only to regulatory formalities.
