Parma have completed the permanent signing of United States international Benjamin Cremaschi from Inter Miami, activating a €4 million option to secure the 21-year-old midfielder on a contract until June 2031.

The talented playmaker arrived at the Serie A club on a season-long loan last summer with an agreement in place for a permanent switch. After monitoring his development over the intervening months, the Ducali opted to trigger the clause and tie the player to a six-year deal, marking his definitive departure from Major League Soccer.

Long-term commitment

The Italian side formally announced the capture, confirming that Cremaschi has signed a contract keeping him at the Stadio Tardini through the end of the 2030-31 campaign. The €4m outlay represents a significant investment for the Emilia-Romagna outfit as they look to build a competitive squad for the upcoming Serie A season.

Cremaschi expressed his enthusiasm for the project, telling the club’s official website: “I am proud to say that my future is at Parma. This city has become my home and I am happy to continue this journey with Parma Calcio.”

He acknowledged the difficulties posed by his fitness issues but emphasised his determination to return strongly. “The last year was difficult due to the injury, but this made me even more determined to come back stronger than ever,” he said. “I am working every day to be ready for the new season and can’t wait to experience new emotions along with all the fans.”

Injury setback and recovery

The creative midfielder’s campaign was cut short in March when he sustained a meniscus ligament injury to his knee during a match. That appearance proved his final contribution of the season, leaving him to undertake rehabilitation work during the closing months of the campaign.

The lengthy contract suggests Parma retain full confidence in the player’s potential despite the fitness concern, banking on his recovery to add creativity to their midfield ranks once the new Serie A season begins.

International heritage

Born in Argentina but eligible for Italy through his ancestry, Cremaschi holds an Italian passport and previously featured for the Albiceleste’s Under-20 side. He ultimately committed his international future to the United States, earning senior call-ups for the USMNT whilst still only 21 years of age.

His dual eligibility and experience at youth international level made him an attractive prospect for Italian clubs, with Parma moving decisively to secure his services for the long term.
