Aston Villa have indicated a willingness to reduce their €10m asking price for goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as Juventus press ahead with efforts to sign the Argentina international ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The Premier League outfit initially valued the 33-year-old at approximately €10m plus bonuses, but reports in Italy suggest they are now open to a slight reduction to help facilitate a move to Turin.

Goalkeeper overhaul in Turin

Juventus are seeking to strengthen their options between the posts following an inconsistent 2025-26 campaign from current custodians Michele Di Gregorio and Mattia Perin. The Serie A club are considering offloading one or both goalkeepers as part of their summer restructuring.

Martinez has emerged as the primary target to shore up the position. The World Cup winner turns 34 in September, a factor that has influenced Juventus’ negotiating stance regarding the transfer fee.

Personal terms agreed, fee remains obstacle

According to reports, Martinez has already agreed personal terms with the Bianconeri. The proposed contract would see him earn €5m per season over a three-year period in Italy.

However, a significant gap remains over the transfer fee. Juventus have reportedly offered up to €5m for the Argentine, exactly half of Villa’s current valuation. The Italian club initially hoped to secure the goalkeeper for a minimal fee given his age and expressed desire to join the project in Turin.

The latest developments suggest Villa are prepared to soften their stance to allow the deal to progress, though negotiations are expected to continue as both parties seek a compromise on the final figure.
