Conflicting reports have emerged regarding Mason Mount’s potential move to AC Milan, with transfer expert Matteo Moretto dismissing links to the Manchester United midfielder despite claims that the player has been offered to the Serie A side.
Defence takes priority
According to transfer specialist Matteo Moretto, Mount is not on the Rossoneri’s summer shopping list. Moretto stated that the club is “110%” focused on signing a high-level centre-back, identifying Benfica’s Antonio Silva as a potential target. The Italian expert explained that Milan will only turn their attention to central midfield reinforcements after offloading loan returnees and completing their defensive recruitment.
Proposal details
However, separate reports from Italy claim that Mount has been proposed to Milan with an approximate valuation of €25 million. The England international previously worked with new Milan head coach Ruben Amorim during the Portuguese’s spell at Old Trafford. Those reports suggest that Mount does not feel part of Michael Carrick’s project at United and that the clubs have exchanged initial information regarding a potential transfer.
Squad rebuild continues
Milan’s new leadership team, featuring director of player trading Hendrik Almstadt and director of football intelligence Bobby Gardiner, has already secured Portugal striker Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain in a club-record deal. The club has also reached an agreement in principle on personal terms with defender Antonio Silva.
