Yan Diomandé has set his sights on a move to Paris Saint-Germain, placing a significant obstacle in Liverpool’s path as they pursue the RB Leipzig winger. The 19-year-old Ivorian international believes the French club offers the best platform to win major honours and compete for individual accolades such as the Ballon d’Or, according to The Athletic.

The development complicates Liverpool’s recruitment plans after the Premier League club submitted an offer of approximately €100 million for the attacker. Leipzig dismissed that proposal and maintain a valuation closer to €130 million for a player who contributed 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign.

PSG project appeals to teenager

Diomandé is reportedly convinced by the long-term vision presented by PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and sporting director Luis Campos. The opportunity to work under manager Luis Enrique has strengthened the Ligue 1 side’s position as frontrunners for his signature.

The winger’s current contract, which runs until 2030, provides Leipzig with substantial leverage in negotiations. With no urgent financial pressure to sell, the German club can demand a premium fee for the Côte d’Ivoire international. Complicating matters further, Diomandé is currently representing his country at the World Cup, meaning any definitive negotiations may be postponed until his tournament involvement concludes.

Liverpool face transfer dilemma

Having already seen one substantial bid rejected, Liverpool must now decide whether to increase their offer to meet Leipzig’s demands or redirect resources toward alternative targets. Reports suggest the Merseyside club may already be considering other options following the player’s declaration of preference for Paris.

PSG retain a strong interest in securing Diomandé’s services but have yet to formalise an offer that satisfies Leipzig’s financial requirements. With the transfer window progressing, the German side can afford to hold out for an acceptable proposal while their star asset continues to attract attention from Europe’s elite clubs.
