Eintracht Frankfurt are poised to complete a swap arrangement with FC Midtjylland that will see Rasmus Kristensen return to Denmark after two seasons in the Bundesliga, while highly-rated teenager Malik Pimpong heads to Germany.

According to reports from Danish outlet Tipsbladet and Sky Germany, the Bundesliga club will receive approximately €6 million for the Danish international. In exchange, Frankfurt will pay between €2.5 million and €3 million to secure the services of 18-year-old winger Pimpong.

Kristensen set for Midtjylland homecoming

The defender is set to rejoin the club where he began his professional career. Kristensen spent two campaigns with Eintracht Frankfurt following his initial move from Midtjylland, but now appears destined to return to the Danish Superliga.

The move represents a significant financial return for Frankfurt, who will pocket roughly €3 million to €3.5 million in net profit from the exchange whilst also acquiring a promising young attacker. The coordinated transfer sees both players swap clubs simultaneously, streamlining negotiations between the two sides.

Prolific teenager Pimpong targets Bundesliga breakthrough

Pimpong arrives as one of Danish football’s most prolific youth prospects. The winger, who represents Denmark at youth international level, enjoyed a remarkable campaign for Midtjylland’s youth side last term, netting 24 goals in just 31 appearances.

At 18, the Danish youth international offers long-term potential and attacking versatility for the Eagles. The fee represents a calculated investment in a player who has demonstrated clinical finishing at junior level, though he is expected to initially feature for the club’s developmental sides as he adapts to the demands of German football.

Deal structure and implications

Whilst neither club has officially announced the transfers, the reports from both Tipsbladet and Sky Germany indicate the deals are at an advanced stage. Kristensen’s departure would free up defensive resources and wage budget, whilst Pimpong’s arrival bolsters the wide attacking options ahead of the new season.

The arrangement reflects the increasingly common practice of mid-sized European clubs conducting swap transactions to refresh their squads whilst managing transfer expenditure. For Midtjylland, reacquiring an experienced international strengthens their domestic and European ambitions, whilst Frankfurt secure a low-risk, high-upside prospect. Both transfers are expected to be finalised before the Bundesliga campaign commences.
