Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli have identified Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez, according to Sky. The Jeddah-based side view the 24-year-old Germany international as a successor to the Algerian winger, whose future at the club remains uncertain.
The Bundesliga outfit are open to selling Adeyemi this summer. Although the attacker’s contract with Dortmund runs until 2027, the German club could look to cash in during the current transfer window. With two years remaining on his deal, waiting another season would significantly reduce Dortmund’s negotiating position.
€50 Million Valuation
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly placed a €50 million price tag on the versatile forward. While Adeyemi has mainly been linked with European clubs throughout his career, Al Ahli represent the first serious approach from the Saudi Pro League.
Mahrez, who joined Al Ahli from Manchester City in 2023, faces an unclear future at the age of 35. His potential departure would create a significant vacancy in the club’s attacking lineup that officials believe the younger Adeyemi could fill.
Player’s Stance Unclear
Whether Adeyemi would be interested in relocating to Saudi Arabia remains unknown. The forward has established himself as a key component of Dortmund’s squad since arriving from RB Salzburg, featuring in their run to the 2024 Champions League final.
A move to the Middle East would remove the 24-year-old from elite European competition at a relatively young age. Dortmund are likely to seek clarity on the player’s intentions before engaging in formal negotiations, as Adeyemi’s willingness to move remains the crucial factor in any potential deal.
