Inter Milan are closing in on the signing of Anan Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise after agreeing personal terms with the Israel international, clearing the way for a move to San Siro despite rival interest from Como.

According to Sportitalia, the Nerazzurri have received the “green light” from the 21-year-old following negotiations over a five-year contract. However, sources differ on the exact wage structure, with Sportitalia reporting starting wages of €2 million net per season, while La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests a base salary closer to €1.7 million annually.

Fee negotiations advancing

The deal with Union Saint-Gilloise is structured around a base fee of €25 million plus performance-related bonuses, falling short of the Belgian club’s €30 million valuation. Direct contact between the clubs is expected imminently to finalise the bonus structure and close the remaining gap.

Como had earlier attempted to hijack the transfer by submitting a formal offer of €27 million, structured as a loan with an obligation to buy. Those advances were rebuffed, however, with subsequent reports indicating the Lombardy club has since denied any interest. Khalaili has consistently prioritised Inter throughout the process, effectively ending the competition for his signature.

Replacing Dumfries

The urgency to secure a right-sided option increased following the announcement of Denzel Dumfries’s transfer to Real Madrid, which left manager Simone Inzaghi without a specialist right wing-back. Inter had initially identified Marco Palestra as their primary target, but the defender opted to join Chelsea instead and has already been announced as a Blues player.

Both Inter and Como retain interest in Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah, who is reportedly open to a move to Serie A for the 2026-27 campaign.

Liverpool midfielder still a target

Inter are also unwilling to abandon their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Nerazzurri saw an opening proposal of €20 million rejected, with Liverpool valuing the player at €35 million to €40 million. With Jones entering the final year of his contract and reportedly keen on the move, Inter are prepared to table a revised offer of €25 million to €30 million once the Khalaili deal is completed.
