FC Twente have initiated discussions to re-sign goalkeeper Jeffrey De Lange from Olympique de Marseille, L’Équipe reports. The Eredivisie club have made contact with their French counterparts regarding a potential deal for the 28-year-old Dutchman, who spent four years in Enschede earlier in his career.

Bit-Part Role in France

De Lange’s move to the Vélodrome from Go Ahead Eagles in the summer of 2024 has failed to deliver regular first-team football. Competing with Argentina international Gerónimo Rulli for the starting position, he has managed only ten appearances across all competitions during his two seasons in Ligue 1.

This lack of playing time has fuelled speculation about his departure. Lille OSC targeted De Lange last season, though the goalkeeper ultimately remained with Marseille. With circumstances unchanged, a transfer this summer now appears increasingly probable.

Previous Spell and Contract Status

The shot-stopper previously served Twente between 2018 and 2022, making three appearances before establishing himself at Go Ahead Eagles. His return would mark a second spell in the Netherlands following his unsuccessful French experiment.

De Lange’s contract with Marseille expires at the end of next season, adding urgency to any potential sale. The club risks losing him without compensation if they fail to secure a transfer this window, potentially giving Twente leverage in negotiations.

Talks remain at an early stage, with no agreement reached. However, the goalkeeper’s need for regular minutes and Twente’s search for experienced options could prove compatible as the transfer window progresses.
