Ruben Amorim has touched down in Milan to begin his tenure as the club’s new head coach, declaring his pride at taking charge of the Serie A giants as they look to rebuild following a disappointing campaign.

The Portuguese landed on Monday ahead of schedule to commence his first experience in Italian football. Speaking upon his arrival, he did not disguise his enthusiasm for the magnitude of the task ahead. “It’s an honour to be Milan’s coach,” he said, via DiMarzio. “I’m really very happy to be here.”

Ambition Unveiled

Amorim’s appointment represents a significant statement of intent from the Rossoneri, who parted company with their previous management after a season that ended without Champions League football. The Portuguese arrives from Manchester United, where he gained experience in one of Europe’s most demanding environments.

Despite initially seeking a less pressured role, Amorim acknowledged that Milan’s stature makes this an even greater undertaking than his previous position. “After the last one I’d promised myself to choose a smaller challenge, but I’m here and it’s even bigger,” he admitted. “If you want to be Milan’s coach, you have to play for that.”

Immediate Plans

The new boss will waste little time settling into his new surroundings. Plans include a visit to Casa Milan on Monday to familiarise himself with the club’s headquarters before he travels to the Milanello training complex on Tuesday to begin laying the groundwork for the upcoming campaign.

His arrival coincides with early activity in the transfer market. Milan recently confirmed their first signing of the summer, securing striker Gonçalo Ramos, who is currently on World Cup duty with Portugal. The move represents the initial phase of squad rebuilding under the ownership of RedBird and Gerry Cardinale.

With pre-season training imminent, Amorim will soon assess his inherited squad and determine what further reinforcements are necessary to return the club to contention at home and abroad.
