Arthur Atta has completed medical examinations with Fiorentina as his transfer from Udinese moves toward final completion. The 23-year-old French midfielder is expected to sign a four-year contract worth approximately €1.3 million per season after the clubs agreed terms understood to be between €25 million and €30 million.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina will pay approximately €30 million excluding bonuses for the former France Under-20 international. However, separate reports suggest the base fee could be closer to €25 million, with Udinese retaining a 30 per cent share of any future transfer fee. Atta joined Udinese only last summer for €8 million from FC Metz, meaning the deal represents substantial profit for the Friulian side.
Rapid Rise from Ligue 2
Atta’s progression from French second-tier football to one of Serie A’s most sought-after midfielders has been swift. After coming through the academies of Stade Rennais and FC Metz, he made his professional debut with the latter in Ligue 2 in 2022 before securing his initial loan move to Udinese.
Initially utilised as a squad rotation option during the 2024-25 campaign—making 29 appearances—Atta established himself as a central figure last season. He started 31 of his 34 appearances across all competitions during the 2025-26 term, contributing six goals and four assists to attract interest from several top-flight clubs.
Gosens Frozen Out
The impending arrival of Atta coincides with Fiorentina’s efforts to move Robin Gosens off the wage bill. The Germany international has been informed he is not part of new manager Fabio Grosso’s project and will not participate in pre-season training, according to Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia.
Schalke 04 have expressed interest in signing Gosens, who was previously close to joining Nottingham Forest in January. Fiorentina are reportedly willing to accept a nominal fee to facilitate his departure before his contract expires in June 2028.
Atta’s official unveiling is expected to follow once final paperwork is completed, with the midfielder set to link up with Grosso’s squad at the Viola Park training complex.
