Como are preparing for their first-ever Champions League campaign by committing more than €100 million to new signings. Cesc Fabregas’s side have rapidly assembled an expensively revamped squad ahead of their debut in Europe’s premier club competition.

Nico Paz deal dominates summer spending

The club’s outlay has been headlined by a €60 million arrangement with Real Madrid to retain midfielder Nico Paz. The Argentine initially departed for Madrid earlier this summer when the Spanish giants activated a €9 million buy-back clause, but he was immediately sold back to Como for the significantly higher fee.

The fresh agreement includes a buy-back option favouring Real Madrid, though the terms have risen substantially. The clause is now set at €80 million and will be valid only for the summer of 2027.

Further reinforcements across the pitch

Como’s recruitment drive extends well beyond Paz. The club have arranged to sign full-back Yan Couto from Borussia Dortmund for approximately €20 million. Brazilian defender Kaiki has already arrived on loan with an obligation to buy set at €14 million.

In midfield, the club expect to complete deals for Luis Milla and Mattia Liberali at around €6 million each. These acquisitions bring the total expenditure close to the €100 million mark, with further business anticipated.

Defensive and attacking targets remain

Despite the significant investment, Fabregas’s recruitment team are not finished. Reports suggest Como are still seeking defensive reinforcements, targeting at least one or two new signings at the back. They are also looking for an alternative option to striker Tasos Douvikas.

If these remaining targets are secured, the club’s summer spending could eventually reach €150 million. The aggressive approach underlines the financial power of Como’s ownership group, which has backed Fabregas heavily since the club’s promotion to Serie A.
