FC Barcelona are preparing a revised offer for Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi after their initial approach was dismissed on Friday. The Catalan club intend to table a second bid worth €20 million plus €10 million in performance-related bonuses, though they remain unwilling to exceed a €30 million total outlay for the 24-year-old.
Sky Germany reports that Barcelona have structured the add-ons in their improved proposal to make them more achievable, hoping to bridge the gap with Dortmund’s €40 million valuation. The Germany international has entered the final year of his contract at Signal Iduna Park and has reportedly agreed personal terms on a five-year deal with the La Liga side, strengthening Barcelona’s negotiating position.
Swap deal alternative emerges
With Barcelona reluctant to meet the asking price outright, the clubs are exploring a player-plus-cash arrangement. According to Jijantes, Dortmund have expressed interest in three Barcelona talents: Swedish winger Roony Bardghji, defensive midfielder Marc Casadó and right-back Héctor Fort.
All three players are tied to long-term contracts at the Spotify Camp Nou but have struggled to secure regular roles under manager Hansi Flick. Including one of the trio in the deal could allow Barcelona to reduce the cash component while offering Dortmund young assets with resale potential.
Negotiations continue
Talks between the clubs remain active following the rejection of Barcelona’s opening €20 million offer on 10 July. Despite the initial setback, both parties appear motivated to reach an agreement before the transfer window closes.
Adeyemi, known for his explosive pace and direct dribbling style, would provide competition in wide areas for Barcelona. The contractual situation—combined with the player’s willingness to join—suggests a compromise could ultimately be reached, potentially through the swap mechanism rather than a straight cash deal.
