Hamburger SV have officially confirmed the signing of midfielder Martin Adeline from French club ES Troyes AC. The 22-year-old completed his medical examination on Monday morning at the Volkspark before putting pen to paper on a long-term contract with the German side.
The exact duration of the agreement has been kept confidential by both clubs, though the move represents a significant addition to HSV’s midfield ranks ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign.
Promotion hero joins Hamburg
Adeline arrives in Germany following a standout season in France that proved instrumental in Troyes securing promotion back to Ligue 1. The midfielder registered 21 goal contributions across just 32 league appearances, playing a central role in the club’s return to the top flight after three years in the second tier.
His creative output and consistency in the final third made him a key figure in Troyes’ promotion campaign, and HSV will hope he can translate that form to the German top division.
Strategic squad development
HSV sporting director Kathleen Krüger welcomed the new arrival, highlighting the thorough analysis that preceded the transfer. “With the signing of Martin, we are implementing an important building block in our strategic squad development,” she said.
Krüger emphasised the collaborative approach between the club’s scouting department and coaching staff, explaining that the decision followed “intensive analysis of last season.” She noted that Adeline’s specific profile matches their requirements for additional flexibility in midfield.
“Martin brings precisely the qualities that will enrich our game and open up new options for us,” Krüger added. “At the same time, his personality and mentality are an excellent fit for the values we stand for as HSV.”
The director particularly praised the Frenchman’s team-oriented approach, describing him as “a selfless team player who works very hard for the collective on the pitch.”
The transfer represents a considerable loss for Troyes as they prepare for their return to Ligue 1, with the club losing one of their primary attacking threats from the promotion campaign. For Hamburger SV, the signing addresses their stated objective of adding specific profiles to the squad following their end-of-season review.
