AC Milan is reportedly exploring a strategic partnership with Ligue 1 side Toulouse, a move that could see the Italian giants establish a multi-club network similar to the successful model implemented by Chelsea and Strasbourg.

RedBird Capital owner Gerry Cardinale is understood to be keen on developing this operational pipeline, which aims to yield significant financial and sporting benefits through a long-term vision. The recent acquisition of Belgian winger Diego Moreira from Strasbourg for a reported €45 million, plus €20 million in add-ons, has highlighted the potential advantages of such a network for Milan.

Emulating a Multi-Club Model

The proposed collaboration with Toulouse would mirror the structure seen with Chelsea and Strasbourg under BlueCo. This model allows for a streamlined exchange of talent and resources, providing a pathway for young players to develop across different leagues.

As an initial test case for this broader collaboration, defender David Odogu was recently sent on a dry loan to the French outfit in mid-August. This move is seen as a preliminary step in assessing the viability and benefits of a deeper alliance.

Talent Exchange and Development

Milan’s sporting directorate is actively monitoring several high-potential players within Toulouse’s ranks. These include promising goalkeeper Guillaume Restes and highly-rated midfielder Alexis Vossah. The Rossoneri are also reportedly keeping an eye on Argentine attacking duo Santiago Hidalgo and Julián Vignolo, as Toulouse continues to build its project around data-driven scouting and young international talent.

Conversely, the partnership would offer a valuable development pathway for emerging prospects from Milan’s Futuro side. Young talents such as Aurelien Guernier, El Hadji Malick Cissé, Maiga-Hamadoun Cissé, Pandolfi, and Calvani could benefit from gaining experience and continuing their development in France’s top flight, a crucial step in their professional careers.

This strategic exploration underscores Milan’s ambition to enhance its talent pipeline and strengthen its competitive edge through innovative club partnerships.
