Mason Mount has been proposed to AC Milan as the Serie A club undertakes a sweeping restructuring under new manager Ruben Amorim, offering the possibility of a reunion between the Portuguese coach and the Manchester United midfielder.
Reports indicate that Mount has been offered to the Rossoneri with an estimated valuation of €25 million. The England international previously worked with Amorim during the latter’s spell as head coach at Old Trafford. According to the reports, Amorim approves of the proposal and the clubs have exchanged initial information regarding the potential transfer.
The approach comes amid suggestions that Mount does not feel part of Michael Carrick’s project at United. Carrick is currently managing the Premier League side.
Backroom overhaul
Amorim’s appointment at Milan followed the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri the day after the 2025-26 season concluded. The change came after the Rossoneri missed out on Champions League qualification, prompting a comprehensive overhaul that saw sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani depart. Amorim now works alongside Hendrik Almstadt, appointed director of player trading, and Bobby Gardiner, named director of football intelligence.
Since these appointments were confirmed at the beginning of this week, Milan’s transfer activity has intensified. The club has secured Portugal striker Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain in a club-record deal and reached an agreement in principle on personal terms with defender Antonio Silva. Both players are represented by super agent Jorge Mendes.
While Milan’s early recruitment has focused on Portuguese talent, Mount offers a different profile with his experience in English football. The proposed fee would represent a relatively modest investment for the Serie A side as they seek to rebuild their squad.
The situation remains at the proposal stage, with formal negotiations yet to advance beyond preliminary exchanges between the clubs.
